This page documents the branded SMS consent language, help and opt-out instructions, and sample content for RailWatch Alabama messaging compliance review and optional future SMS alerts.

RailWatch Alabama is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by the City of Alabaster, Alabama or by Alabaster Connect.

Program Summary

RailWatch Alabama primarily uses in-app and push notifications today. If optional SMS alerts are enabled for users in the future, they will be limited to informational railroad crossing alerts and account-related notifications for users who clearly opt in.

RailWatch Alabama does not require SMS consent in order to use the app.

Public Opt-In Example

The example below shows the consent language RailWatch Alabama uses for SMS alert enrollment review.

This opt-in is separate from account creation and is voluntary. The checkbox is intentionally unchecked by default so users must take affirmative action to consent.

Example confirmation message: You are subscribed to RailWatch Alabama SMS alerts. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help.

Proof of Consent Summary

  • The user enters a mobile number on a branded RailWatch Alabama page.
  • The user sees clear SMS disclosure and consent language before opting in.
  • The checkbox is unchecked by default and requires affirmative user action.

Use Case

RailWatch Alabama uses SMS only for informational alerting and operational account communications. The intended messaging category is account notifications, not marketing.

Help and Opt-Out

Users can stop future messages at any time by replying STOP. Users can request help by replying HELP.
